BRAKE PAD INFORMATION

BRAKE PADS - We stock organic (Armstrong), Semi-sintered (Nissin NS - see picture left) and fully sintered (DP and Nissin ST - see picture left) brake pads. Organic pads are resin bonded, kind to the discs, generally quieter and fine for general road use. Sintered pads are made from metal particles put under pressure and heat, offer the best stopping power, but also cause the most rotor wear and can make the most noise. Virtually all original equipment pads are now sintered. They are also the least affected by adverse conditions and are the pad to choose for high speed and track days. Sintered pads can feel 'grabby' and may lack 'feel' at the lever. Semi-metallic pads fall right in the middle for durability and performance. A trade off between sintered and organic, they still stop well, cause less rotor wear with better lever feel than sintered metallic pads and normally make less noise.

Mikuni carburettor seal overhaul kit

Float chamber seal and x 5 O-rings. All seals are manufactured from DuPont Viton to resist damage from ethanol. Float O-rings (2), pilot screw and carburettor vacuum take off O-rings. Now also with the slide block base O-ring, which we normally leave untouched and x 2 new float chamber cover screws. We know it says in all the manuals never do it, but in the real world a piece of fuse wire can be pushed through the pilot jet and pilot air screw hole, compressed air often doesn't clear the jets if blocked. It's common for the two float O-rings to harden and cause over fuelling problems. When refitting the float assembly into the carburettor body with the new O-rings, use a little lubrication on the new O-rings such as WD40. Fitting instructions included.

While ethanol mixed with petrol/gasoline is known to lower engine / tailpipe emissions, these blended fuels  increased permeation through plastic and rubber. Viton has excellent chemical resistance and helps resist these problems, but unfortunately carburettor rebuilds in the future may well be more frequent as the percentage of ethanol increases in pump fuels. If the bike is not to be used for a long period, it's a good idea to drain the fuel from the fuel tank and carburettors.

Clutch Push Rod Oil Seal

Clutch pushrod seal located in the main crankcases under the sprocket cover. With the sprocket cover and pushrod removed the existing seal can be removed/ hooked out and the new seal pushed in. This is the most commonly sold seal as this type of seal prefers rotary motion and not the cross sliding movement of the clutch push rod. When refitting the clutch push rod, it's a good idea to reverse fit the rod, to give a new bearing area for the seal. Fits all hydraulic clutch models.
